Rural Responder Training: 3 members attending. Topics included pandemics & epidemics. Jay has copies of the materials if anyone would like to borrow them.

Animal Emergency Technician: Dr Lexi Snow from the Dept of Ag may possibly be working on this.

Oil Spill Training: one member attended a classroom presentation, goose wash, & animal processing.

Pet CPR: we will be provide info on a end of July training. SCART is working with Orwigsburg & Frackville Fire Co to sponsor trainings for 1st responders at their locations

Rummage Sale: at Schuylkill County Fair. Volunteers & sale items are needed. The team will meet over the summer for a pot luck picnic to organize & price the items.

Dog Walk: possibly at Tuscorara State Park in October.

Schuylkill County Fair: Jay will be meeting with the committee regarding their being a resource for us.

Vehicle: We currently have the exact # of people to tow trailers as the # of trailers we have. There may be a time when all trailers are needed but not all the drivers are available. It was suggested we consider purchasing a cube truck in the future.

Make-A-Difference Day: looking into holding a rabies, microchip, ID clinic at Pet Food supplier to raise funds to purchase catch poles & crates for police depts.

EMA: John Matz is coming back to the county & will be taking Art Kaplan’s position

One Call: looking into renewal since Carbon CART has different pricing from what we were offered.

Training: Members will take turns presenting the training of their choice after our monthly meetings.

Wildlife Capture: Red Creek suggested wildlife be caught by using an upside down cardboard box with a removable lid. Put box on top of the animal, slide a piece of cardboard under box to trap animal inside. Lid should be duct taped on & animal should be transported to a wildlife center.

Puppy Mill Training 02/13/10 1:00pm: Free behavioral seminar. This seminar will cover some of the behavioral aspects of rehabilitation, primarily related to dogs raised in commercial environments.

SUN CART 02/19-02/21: An email with the detailed training schedule has already been sent to everyone. SCART plans on attending Saturday 02/20 from approx 9am-6pm. Jay will confirm if it is OK for us to go for one day only. The location is 67 Elm St Beaver Springs, PA. Cost is $15 per person paid upon arrival.

Animal Disease Response Training: Friday 03/19 from 8-5 at Schuylkill County Fire School. Minimum 25, maximum 35. If you would like to attend, please register at www.agprepardness.org. Click the registration button, and then select our class.
Penn State University: Has Dept of Homeland Security approved courses listed on the PASART training calendar. Since they’re approved reimbursement is provided for registration, transportation & lodging.

Certified Animal EMT: Possible course being developed that would between basic pet 1st aid & vet tech training.

Eastern Central Task Force: A fire, rescue & hazmat committee has invited regional CART coordinators to join as a working group.

Christmas Party: Held in December at Amigos. Plaque presentation to Char-Will Kennels & Pleasant Valley Ranch.

Farm Show: 01/13/10 9-5 anyone going with Jay is to be at his place by 7:30. Details already emailed to those attending.

Valley Central: An informative tour of the facility & their ambulance was given. We now have some of their forms for activation. We might possibly team up with them to do a pet blood drive in the future.

AHSUS Training LAN CART 01/30-classroom rather than hands on training. If spaces are available it may be opened to the public.

Fireground 101 02/04 after our monthly meeting. Jay has developed a training session regarding lingo & some of the reasons behind incident command/fire personnel.

SUN CART 02/19-02/21 our team will be attending this mock disaster event on Sat 02/20.

DHS Animal Disease Response Training 03/19 8am-5pm. Hosted by SCEMA & SCART at the fire school. It’s through a grant with Kirkwood Community College. 25 person minimum, free to CART members & lunch is included. Deals with AG emergencies, bioterrorism, etc.

10/20/09 Borough of Girardville. Request for assistance from Girardville police dept with a kitten trapped in a storm drain.

10/26/09 Borough of Mahanoy City. Request for assistance from Mahanoy City Police Dept with dog that broke through a window & was stuck. Advised via phone the dog had been extricated & there was no need for our response.

11/01/09 Wayne Township. Structure fire with animals. Nine year old rottweiler with severe smoke inhalation was administered oxygen by EMT’s. Eleven year old cat with minor smoke inhalation. Both were transported to Valley Central Emergency Clinic.

24 Hour Veterinarians: After our recent activation members were once again concerned with the fact that we do not have a 24 hr/7day vet in our County. We’re looking forward to possibly building a relationship with Valley Central.

10/10/09 doors open at 10, auction begins at noon. We will meet at Diane’s on 10/09/09 (time pending) to make baskets & load vehicles. We will meet at the Seltzer Fire Co at 6pm that day to set up. We need help at Diane’s, for set up, to work the auction, shop & drop watchers & for clean up. Supplies needed are business gift certificates, shredded paper, small door prizes & baked goods.
